NEWS 1: A Doctoral Student at the College of Horticulture Publishes First-Authored Paper in International Top Journal Advanced Science

In December 2025, Haoyuan Dong, a doctoral candidate at the College of Horticulture, Hebei Agricultural University, published a research paper titled "Autopolyploidization-Induced Chromatin Remodeling Regulates Leaf Size Variation in Brassica rapa" as the first author in the international top journal Advanced Science. The study focused on three homologous but ploidy-differentiated Chinese cabbage (haploid, diploid, and tetraploid) and successfully revealed the chromatin dynamic landscapes during two consecutive whole-genome duplication processes from haploid to diploid and diploid to tetraploid. Professor Aixia Gu, Professor Shuxing Shen, Professor Jianjun Zhao from the Vegetable Genetics and Breeding Team at the College of Horticulture, Hebei Agricultural University, and Researcher Zefu Lu from the Institute of Crop Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, served as co-corresponding authors of the paper.

NEWS 2: Innovation Team for New Veterinary Drug Research and Residue Detection at College of Veterinary Medicine Makes Significant Progress in Veterinary Drug Residue Detection

In December 2025, the Innovation Team for New Veterinary Drug Research and Residue Detection at the College of Veterinary Medicine,Hebei Agricultural University, published a research paper titled "Production of RPSL12-TetR fusion and development of two multiplex methods for simultaneous detection of tetracyclines and aminoglycosides in pork" in the international top journal Food Chemistry: X. The study found that the fusion receptor-based chemiluminescence signal amplification strategy could serve as a high-throughput routine screening tool for detecting tetracyclines and aminoglycosides in pork. It also provided important reference value for future development of higher-performance multi-target fusion receptors and new signal amplification systems. Professor Jianping Wang from the College of Veterinary Medicine, Hebei Agricultural University, served as the corresponding author of the paper, with doctoral student Wanqiu Xia as the first author.

NEWS 3: Professor Zaifeng Li's Team at the College of Plant Protection Successfully Deciphers the Temperature-Sensitive Resistance Mechanism of Wheat Leaf Rust Resistance Gene Lr13

In November 2025, Professor Zaifeng Li's team at the College of Plant Protection,Hebei Agricultural University, published a research paper titled "TaHSP90 stabilizes Lr13 to regulate temperature-sensitive resistance to leaf rust in wheat seedlings" in the international top journal Cell Reports. This study is the first to reveal that high-temperature environments induce the expression of the heat shock protein TaHSP90, which forms a complex with Lr13 and RAR1 to prevent Lr13 degradation by the 26S proteasome, thereby enhancing wheat resistance to leaf rust. This discovery provides new insights for crop disease control in the context of climate change.

NEWS 4: Cotton Genetics and Breeding Team at College of Agronomy Discovers New Function of Serine Protease in Regulating Fiber Quality Gene Network

In October 2025, the cotton genetics and breeding team led by Professor Zhiying Ma from the College of Agronomy, Hebei Agricultural University, published a research paper titled "GbSER02 Interacts With GhVOZ1 to Promote Fiber Elongation by Modulating Gibberellin Synthesis in Cotton" in the internationally top journal Advanced Science. This study, for the first time, identified the novel function of the serine protease serpin in regulating cotton fiber length and fineness. It revealed the molecular mechanism by which the serpin family gene GbSER02 interacts with the transcription factor GhVOZ1 to regulate gibberellin biosynthesis, thereby promoting cotton fiber elongation. The study elucidated the key regulatory network of cotton fiber development and developed molecular markers that can be used for breeding, providing new theoretical basis and technical pathways for molecular design breeding of important traits.

NEWS 5: Shuaihua Zhang's Team at the College of Science Designs Novel Nanomaterials to Advance Fundamental Research on Saline-Alkaline Water Desalination

The research team led by Shuaihua Zhang from the College of Science, Hebei Agricultural University, has made a series of significant breakthroughs in the design and mechanism research of key materials for saline-alkaline water desalination. Their findings have been consecutively published in internationally top journals such as Advanced Functional Materials, Chemical Engineering Journal, and Nano Energy. These studies systematically reveal the performance and mechanisms of various novel nanomaterials in saline-alkaline water treatment.
