On April 23rd -26th, HEBAU, jointly hosted “International Capacity Building Workshop on Education for Sustainable Rural Development” for Countries along Lancang-Mekong Rivers, with other institutes, including China Institute of Education and Social Development in Beijing Normal University, UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (UNESCO INRULED), the Chaipattana Foundation, and Yunnan Agricultural University. Fifteen participants from five countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, participated in this workshop.

Professor Zhao Jianjun, Vice President of HEBAU participated in the closing ceremony in HEBAU, delivered a speech on the closing ceremony on April 26th, and issued the certificates to the trainees. He expected that the participants could have a deeper understanding of China's initiative of "building a community with a shared future for mankind", the "the Belt and Road Initiative", the global development initiative, the global security initiative, and the global civilization initiative via the workshop.

Professor Li Bowen, Chief Engineer and Vice Dean of the Rural Revitalization Research Institute of HEBAU, shared the successful model of melon industry revitalization in Caixi Village in the keynote speech at the opening ceremony.

On April 24-25, HEBAU organized the participants to visit the green agriculture in Xiong'an New Area, and the model village for rural revitalization - Luotuowan.

The participants said this workshop along with the follow-up field visit will help to establish an network for academic exchange and practices in education and rural development among Lancang-Mekong countries, strengthen their traditional friendships and contribute a share to build Lancang-Mekong Community with Shared Future.
