Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the results of the "2023 International Cooperation Joint Laboratory Project", and "Vegetable Molecular Breeding Technology International Cooperation Joint Laboratory" of HEBAU was approved for construction. This is the first international cooperative joint laboratory approved for construction by the Ministry of Education in HEBAU, marking a historic breakthrough.

Targeting at "world-class industry in need", based in Hebei, serving Beijing and Tianjin, assisting Xiong'an New Area, and radiating to the whole country, the lab gathers and cultivates a group of leading talents and young top talents with international influence in the field of vegetable biological breeding, carries out precise identification of special vegetable resources and creation of excellent germplasm, and tries to break through in molecular breeding technology for varieties. It focuses on cultivating high-quality crop germplasm with strong disease resistance and outstanding trophication and function to significantly enhance the competitiveness and influence of the discipline of biological breeding. The goal is to build the laboratory into a first-class  innovation center for discipline theory, technological center for research and development, leading center for industrial development, and talent training center in the field of international vegetable crop breeding.
