1、On October 18, the 1st Forum of Membership Day of Crop Science Society of China (CSSC) themed “Concerning for Genetic Breeding and Seeking the Way of Scientific Research” was successfully held in the reporting hall, Research Building (D), West Campus of Hebei Agricultural University (HEBAU). All those who attended the forum are Professor Zhai Huqu, President of CSSC, Research Fellow Chen Xiaoya, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wan Jianmin, Executive Vice President of CSSC, Vice Dean of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Research Fellow Liu Chunming, Vice President and Secretary General of CSSC and Director of the Crop Science Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Ma Zhiying, Vice President of HEBAU, Zhang Aimin, Vice President of CSSC and Research Fellow of Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, some members of CSSC and around 300 students and teachers of HEBAU.
2、On October 21, a 3-member delegation composed of Professor Shen Jie, Professor Zhang Long and Professor Liu Junfeng from the College of Plant Protection, China Agricultural University came to Hebei Agricultural University (HEBAU) for an academic exchange. The three professors gave the reports titled “New Applications of Nanomaterials in Entomology”, “Progress of New Technology of Locust Control” and “Relationship between Structure and Function of Rice Blast Effector Protein”, respectively. The students and teachers from the College of Plant Protection listened to the above-mentioned reports.
3、In the morning of October 23, at the invitation of the College of Horticulture, Professor Guusje Bonnema and Professor Theo Borm from the Department of Plant Breeding, Wageningen University, the Netherlands came to HEBAU for academic exchange, giving a presentation titled “Genome Wide Association Mapping for Leafy Traits in the Wageningen B.oleracea Collection” and “Bioinformatics at Wageningen UR Plant Breeding” in the reporting hall of the College of Horticulture at the West Campus, which is presided by Professor Chen Xueping, Vice Dean of the College of Horticulture, and interpreted by Professor Zhao Jianjun. Over 80 postgraduates and teachers in relevant majors from the College of Horticulture listened to the presentation.
4、From October 27 to 29, sponsored by the Animal Production Teaching Advisory Board of the Ministry of Education and conducted by the Northwest A&F University, the 2nd National College Students Animal Science Professional Skills Competition was held in Yangling, Shaanxi. Out of the 66 participating teams, the team from Hebei Agricultural University won the first prize of National Group and the first prize by single.
5、In the morning of October 27, at the invitation of the College of Sciences, Professor Chang Hsiung of Toyama University in Japan came to HEBAU for an academic report titled“Regulation of Cellular Function Through ABC Transporters: Targeting and Function of ABCD Family Proteins” in the meeting room of the College of Sciences at the west campus for the teachers of Department of Chemistry and the postgraduates in relevant majors, the College of Sciences.
6、On November 5, at the invitation of the College of Animal Sciences and Techonology, Professor Rainer Mosenthin from the University of Hohenheim, Germany and Professor Ma Qiugang from China Agricultural University came to HEBAU for an academic report for over 50 postgraduates, supervisors and leaders from the College of Animal Sciences and Techonology.
7、In the afternoon of November 8, Florin Stanica, Vice President of Bucharest University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine and distinguished Professor of the College of Horticulture of HEBAU came to the College of Horticulture for an academic presentation titled “Fruit Research and Production in Romania”, which is interpreted by Professor Liu Mengjun, Executive Deputy-Director of National Engineering Research Center for Agriculture in Northern Mountainous Areas. Over 70 postgraduates, teachers and leaders from the College of Horticulture, including Professor Li Ming, Dean of the College listened to the presentation.
8、On November 17, sponsored by China Education Association of Forestry and co-conducted by Beijing Forestry University and Central South University of Forestry and Technology, the 1st Forum of Principles at the Colleges and Universities of Forestry was convened in Changsha, Hunan. At the opening ceremony, a speech was given by Peng Youdong, Member of the Party Group and Vice Director of the State Forestry Administration, and Director-General of China Education Association of Forestry. The theme of the Forum is “Cultivation of Forestry Talents and Transformation of Scientific Achievement under the Integration of Production and Teaching”. President Shen Shuxing was invited to give a report titled “Deepening the Development of Taihang Mountain Road for Cultivation of Innovative and Entrepreneurial Talents”. At the Forum, there held the key discipline awarding ceremony, at which, on behalf of HEBAU, Huang Xuanrui, Dean of the College of Forestry accepted the key discipline plaque in forestry by the State Forestry Administration. At the Forum, experts and scholars from 23 universities and Chinese Academy of Forestry in China presented.
9、In the afternoon of November 26, at the invitation of the College of Land Resources and the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, Research Fellow Yu Wenju, Deputy Director of Land Management Center, Ministry of Land and Resources and Bai Zhongke, Professor of China University of Geosciences came to HEBAU for academic presentations titled “On Issues of Scientific and Technological Support to Land Resources Safety” and “Key Links in the Diagnosis and Reclamation of Damaged Lands in Mining Areas ”, respectively for over 300 undergraduates, graduates and teachers in relevant majors from College of Land Resources, College of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, College of Business, College of Forestry and so on.
10、From November 21 to 22, the 3rd “Eagles Cup” – Small Animal Doctor Skills Competition was held at International Academic Exchange Center, Huazhong Agricultural University, which is organized by Chinese Veterinary Medical Association and Teaching Advisory Board in Animal & Medical Sciences of Higher Education, Ministry of Education. The participating team from the College of Chinese Veterinary Medicine, Hebei Agricultural University won the 1st College Students’ Group prize.
