
On the morning of March 18, a delegation from Laurea University of Applied Sciences (Laurea UAS) in Finland, led by President Jouni Koski, visited Hebei Agricultural University(HEBAU) for cooperation negotiations and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Zhao Jianjun, President of HEBAU, and Liu Yan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of HEBAU, attended the event. Zhou Chunjiang, Vice President of HEBAU, presided over the negotiation meeting, and relevant functional departments and college representatives participated in the meeting.
At the negotiation meeting, Zhao Jianjun extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Laurea University of Applied Sciences. He stated that Hebei Agricultural University, as one of the earliest institutions to implement higher agricultural education in China, has now developed into a key provincial university with strengths in agriculture and coordinated multi-disciplinary development. Laurea University of Applied Sciences, with its advanced concepts and rich experience in applied talent cultivation, international cooperation, and industry-academia collaboration. Its curriculum and practical teaching model, particularly in smart agriculture, are highly aligned with our academic development direction. We look forward to taking this negotiation as an opportunity to carry out comprehensive cooperation in Sino-foreign cooperative education, teacher-student exchanges, scientific research innovation, and other aspects, and jointly explore new paths for industry-academia-research collaboration.
Yoni Koski expressed his gratitude to HEBAU for its warm reception and spoke highly of the university's educational achievements and campus atmosphere. He said that Hebei Agricultural University's profound accumulation and innovative vitality in the field of agriculture were impressive, and he hoped that both parties could work together in the fields of smart agriculture and digital agricultural technology to promote mutual mobility of personnel and share high-quality educational resources.
During the meeting, Zhao Jianjun and Jouni Koski, representing both universities, signed the memorandum of understanding, officially launching a new chapter of in-depth cooperation between the two parties. Both sides exchanged views on joint programs, dual-degree training, curriculum integration, credit recognition, faculty exchange, and collaborative research in smart agriculture, reaching preliminary consensus on multiple aspects.
The Finnish delegation also toured the campus and history museum of HEBAU, gaining in-depth understanding of the university’s 120-year history of education, disciplinary features, and campus culture.
