International Food Nutrition and Health for the development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Food Science and Technology Industry in 2018 were held in HEBAU

On June 26th, Forum of International Food Nutrition and Health (Forum of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Food Science and Technology Industry Development in 2018) co-sponsored by the College of Food Science and Technology of HEBAU and the Food Society of Hebei Province was held in HEBAU. Prof. Shen Shuxing, President of HEBAU, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Zhang Feng, Minister of Science and Technology Association of Hebei Province, and Li Ying, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Office of Science and Technology Department of Hebei Province, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Experts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Champaign), US; Clemson University in South Carolina, US; the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention; Zhejiang University; Tianjin University of Science and Technology; Junlebao Dairy Corporation and the representative teachers from the College of Food and Science Technology delivered academic speeches about food nutrition and health based on the theme of "Food Leads Healthy Life". More than 260 teachers, graduate students and undergraduate students from the College of Food Science and Technology, the Institute of Science and Technology, the College of Horticulture, the College of Life Sciences, the College of Oceanography, and the College of Business attended this Forum.

In the speech, President Shen welcomed the domestic or foreign experts, leaders, entrepreneurs and delegates. He pointed out that this forum is an important activity for domestic and foreign experts to discuss international food nutrition and health, discuss and guide the development of food science and technology industry, and promote international docking, collaborative innovation and common development, which is of great significance for the development of HEBAU, especially the  discipline of Food Science. He hopes the research experts and scholars could diagnose and prescribe for the first-class discipline construction of  Food Science, and boost the speeding-up development of the group of disciplines concerning food science. At the same time, he hopes that the College of Food Science and Technology could take hosting of this forum as a good opportunity to quicken the construction of "Double First-class" (world-class universities and world-class disciplines) construction, strengthen the international docking, deepen the coordination of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and closely connect with science and technology industry demand. Based on the achievements, the College of Food Science and Technology should plan  the development of the disciplines of Food Science, the construction target and specific measures for the achievement of new breakthroughs as first-class discipline construction.

Zhang Feng, in his speech, pointed out that the research and application of nutrition and health not only involves multi-disciplines, but also have a direct relationship with social factors; Science and technology is global wealth and the opening of this forum attaches grand significance with pushing the scientific cooperation in the field of food science and technology in Hebei Province, which would make beneficial contribution to human health career. Li Ying pointed out that the forum is an important activity to push international docking, collaborative innovation, and common development in the field of food nutrition and health, the convening of this forum would further speed up the internationalization of the discipline of Food Science in Hebei Province and promote the development of nutrition, health and food industry in Hebei Province.

In the subsequent statements, the domestic and foreign experts carried out extensive academic exchanges on food science and technology innovation in the field of scientific innovation, food and human interactions, research and development of probiotics such as lactobacillus and human health, the change trend of the Chinese food nutrition and health demand, the postoperative nutrition intervention of diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cancer and the present situation and the countermeasures of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei food science and technology industry development .

This forum is a good start to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Chinese and foreign workers of nutrition health and food. It is an important activity for the guidance of expert and professors in the field of food science, industrial development and promoting the coordinated innovation of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei in Hebei Province, which is also of great significance for the development of food science and engineering in HEBAU.
